I teach dog owners how to use dog friendly, human friendly, and fun training methods to effect long lasting, stable improvement in their dog's behaviour and emotional state. I teach methods that are grounded in science, rather than myth.
Behaviours I can help you with include:
- Improving general manners
- Puppy training and raising
- Basic obedience
- Recall
- Jumping
- Problem barking
- Digging and other destructive activities
- Walking on lead
- Resource guarding
- And many more
Training consultations typically last 1 hour. The first session is $60 and subsequent sessions are $45 each. Depending on your situation consultations may need to be longer, for example if you have multiple dogs or complex problems, with extra time negotiated before the relevant consultation and charged at $20 per half hour. I will provide an estimate of the number of consultations required for your situation before you make any commitment.
Puppy Pack
Getting off on the right paw with a new puppy is so important that I offer a discounted package for people with, or intending to get, a puppy under 3 months of age. The pack includes 2 longer, 1.5-2 hour consultations for $120, with additional 1.5 hour consultations available for $45 until your puppy is 6 months. This package is also available to families intending to rescue an adult dog from a shelter, so long as the first consultation occurs before you bring your new dog home.
When possible, I recommend the first consultation be before you bring your puppy home. We can discuss topics such as:
- Selecting the right puppy for you
- Setting up your home to be puppy-proof
- How to introduce your puppy to the family and other pets
- Your puppy's first night at home
- What you may want to (and not want to) buy for your puppy
- Toilet training
The second consultation, or both if your puppy is already home, will be once your pup has settled in to your home. We can cover topics such as:
- Socialisation
- Basic training
- Bonding games
- Mouthing and nipping
- Puppy handling
- Problem solving for future problems
The puppy pack consultations are not intended to be an alternative to puppy kindy classes, but an addition to them. Though there will be some overlap, puppy kindy classes allow your dog to socialise with other pups, while early consultations allow you to get off on the right paw as soon as possible. Both are very important for raising the perfect puppy.
